Well it wasn't much of a speech now was it. I have talked to a few people about this and I have read articles on both sides about whether or not his speech was appropriate. And I guess I can see both sides of the argument. But all in all, I don't think the speech was on the same level as the event. What I mean by this is that being inducted into the Hall of Fame is a huge honor. And Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest basketball player who has ever played. Therefore, Michael Jordan's induction into the Hall of Fame is huge. Epic even. Not that anyone doubted he would be in the Hall of Fame. Just that everyone has been waiting for Jordan's honorary ceremony for years. So I think we were expecting something a little more touching than what you delivered.
So some say that is why Michael's speech was the way it was; pointing out people who questioned his ability. That's Michael. That's his attitude. That's why he's great.
Others say, he is the greatest basketball player ever. So why not show gratitude to those who helped you achieve your goal. At least on this night of all nights.
Well I say those that questioned him are the ones that helped him achieve his goal.
But still Mike. Have a little gratitude. After listening to David Robinson, Jerry Sloane, John Stockton, and Vivian Stringer, I admit, I was expecting to shed a lot of tears after hearing your speech.
But after you were done, my eyes were dry.
And I was disappointed. All that build up throughout the evening for Michael Jordan. Perhaps the greatest Hall of Fame class thus far. And you blew it.
If you could have a do over, would you take it?
That's really what I want to know. But I think I know the answer. No. You wouldn't.
Because you're Michael Jordan. And everyone wants to be like Mike.
